Shortly after Easter, Sr. Susan Marie, of the Visitation Sisters’ Brooklyn community, will begin a class in the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales. Only this class will not be in a traditional classroom. It will be hosted online, on a website at Visitation Spirit.
The goal is to build up a group of persons interested in deepening their walk with God, as well as those who may have an interest in a vocation with the Visitation Sisters. The chat room and website is a project of the Second Federation of Visitation Sisters in the United States, which includes five houses.
A chat room is a great way to teach others about a community’s charism, as well as to get to know candidates to religious life. Sr. Susan Marie can chat with one other person, or, for the class, many persons at the same time. A chat box that shows the ongoing conversation shows up on the screen.
Those interested in chatting must first apply to become a member by answering a few questions about their spiritual life. After they are accepted, they login with a password. Other web visitors cannot see the chat conversation.
We at Vocation Promotion built the chat room, and we think that other communities could benefit from it as well.
Good for you, Susan Marie! How did we ever miss doing this before—I’ve known of chat rooms, but not delved in -you are way a head!!! SKatherine
