The Austin, TX diocese has some good points on finding candidates for religious life and the priesthood. Here are a few that they take from the National Religious Vocations Conference:
- Membership in the Catholic Church
- Generally good health
- Adequate intellectual ability
- Healthy relationships, including good friends
- Sense of humor
It also suggests where to look for religious candidates, and how to invite them to think about a vocation. For where such people can be found, it lists various parish functions, such as lector, Eucharistic minister, and so on.
I don’t know how old this list is, but I would add to that the internet. Building a list of friends and interested persons can be gotten from Facebook, or with an enewsletter with a sign-up form on your website. You can also lead chat groups, and teach classes about your charism on your website via a chat function, as we are doing at Visitation Spirit’s Living Jesus Chat Room.
Thanks for the information you have provided. That has given me an insight to intensify my effort in my search for vocations.
Please answer this one question: In What ways can I present Jesus of Nazareth as attractive, and how do I explain the beauty of the total gift of self for the sake of the gospel
It is good to salve Jesus in you heart and in your wil and to spread the kingdom of heaven to every one in our life so that hes kingdom must be introduced to the whole nations.
