I’ll never forget the Christmas morning years ago when our four-year old stepped into the living room and saw the glistening Christmas tree with many gifts laid around it.
He truly saw it with a child’s eyes, and shrieked with joy, “Sarah, come here. Look what Santa brought us!”
He was at an age when he was just old enough to appreciate the beauty, the surprise of the tree and gifts, along with an understanding that all this beauty was for him.
And yet young enough to feel the overwhelming joy of it all, as if for the first time.
And more, it was a joy that demanded that to be shared with someone else. A joy that could not contain itself – that had to be expressed to another. A glee that wanted someone else to feel the same emotion. One that validated his feelings.
This joy is ultimately from God, who wants to share his divine life with us while we are here on earth. And yet the experience is something that goes beyond just a one-on-one relationship between us and God. It demands to be shared with and acknowledged by others.
This Christmas, I hope you experience the joy of the coming of the Son of God, our Savior, as a small child, and share this joy with those around you.
Christmas blessings and greetings from all of us at Vocation Promotion/TreeFrogClick.
